Mentorship Program
G.E.N.E.S. created the mentorship program to help underclassman science majors navigate their coursework under the guidance of an experienced science major. This program works by pairing a first year/second year mentee with a third year/fourth year mentor who has similar career and academic interests. These pairings are made at the beginning of each semester. The mentor serves as a resource for the mentee when he/she has questions or needs course advice. Mentors are expected to meet with their mentees a couple times throughout the semester to advise them on whatever academic concerns they may have. It is an enriching experience for both the mentor and the mentee: the mentee receives valuable academic advice and the mentor gains leadership experience to boost his or her résumé!
