About
G.E.N.E.S., the Genetic Education Network and Experience Society, is an organization for all who have a passion for genetics and the sciences. The goal of G.E.N.E.S. is to create an inclusive community of science-loving students and professors. Thus, anyone is welcome to be a part of G.E.N.E.S., regardless of his or her major. G.E.N.E.S. does not collect dues nor does it keep an official roster/take attendance. Students can attend meetings and events as they please!
G.E.N.E.S. holds monthly meetings during which guest speakers from a variety of science backgrounds come to share their experiences in their professions. G.E.N.E.S. has hosted discussions with medical doctors, PhD researchers, and genetic counselors (among others!). Additionally, G.E.N.E.S. arranges regular social events outside of monthly meetings to give members a chance to mingle and to have fun. G.E.N.E.S., however, is not limited to students—each year the club organizes a social event with professors from various departments to promote interaction between students and science instructors.
